Our STORY

Hi, we’re Megan and Alan.

If you’ve spent any time around us, you know that our lives are a bit of a whirlwind. We’ve been a team for over 11 years and married for four, and in that time, dance has taken us everywhere—from movie sets and cruise ships to the competition floor at Blackpool.

Even though we’re still active professional competitors and spend many of our weekends teaching, training, or traveling, our favorite place to be is helping our “Society” members find their own rhythm.

We don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to dance, because learning should be about more than just following a syllabus.

Even as professional competitors, we are still students ourselves. We are constantly training in multiple styles of dance and taking lessons to stay sharp. Our choreography and teaching aren’t just pulled from a manual—we find inspiration everywhere, from art and fashion to nature and other movement styles.

Because we are still out there competing and performing, we bring the most current techniques and fresh perspectives back to our students. Our goal is to take that high-level expertise and deliver it with a focus on kindness, support, and the belief that every dancer’s journey is unique.

When we aren’t traveling for a competition or working with our students, we’re usually out looking for our next adrenaline rush—whether that’s skydiving or white-water rafting down Class 5 rapids. We are true adventure seekers and love being outdoors and taking advantage of everything the PNW has to offer.

  • The Boys: Our house is run by “the boys”—our two cats, Ollie and our newest addition, Moose, along with our dog, Milo, who has been with us for over 10 years. While they might not be the first thing we talk about when we walk onto the floor, they are easily the cutest members of the Society.

The Hunt for New Eats: We have a serious passion for trying new restaurants and exploring the local food scene. If you have a favorite “must-try” spot, please tell us—we’re always looking for an excuse to go.

Meet Your Pros

The Technical Powerhouse & Choreography Extraordinaire

Megan is a Dance Vision Certified professional who doesn’t believe in cutting corners. With a career spanning film, stage, and the professional competitive circuit, she has developed an incredibly sharp eye for what works on the floor—and what doesn’t. Whether she is building a Pro-Am routine or a wedding dance, her work is defined by high-level creativity and a relentless focus on the “why” behind the movement.

  • The Foundation: Megan is a deep believer in the priority of a good foundation. She pushes her students to master proper basics, knowing that true confidence on the floor only comes from a solid technical base.
  • The Aesthetic: Beyond the steps, Megan has a unique talent for the “total package.” She is an expert at finding the perfect dresses and costumes for her students, ensuring they look as sharp and professional as they dance.
  • Adaptive Dance: She has a special passion for working with children and individuals with diverse developmental or learning needs, proving that with the right technical approach, anyone can overcome challenges and find their rhythm.

The Goal: “My focus is on the ‘why’ behind the movement. I want you to walk off the floor feeling stronger, sharper, and more capable than when you walked on.”

The Artistry Specialist & The Energizer Bunny

If you’re looking for the spark in the room, you’ve found it. Alan is a Dance Vision Certified professional known for his boundless energy and a relatable, down-to-earth teaching style. He is one of the most patient instructors you will ever meet, dedicated to helping every student—from a nervous beginner to a seasoned performer—actually enjoy the process of getting better.

  • The Philosophy: Alan is a firm believer that you don’t have to choose between having fun and improving your skill. He views dance as a highlight of the week and uses his natural humor to keep the atmosphere light while the work gets done.
  • Brain & Body: With a deep understanding of how we learn, Alan prioritizes repetition in movement. He believes that consistent, rhythmic practice is the key to training both the body and the brain, making complex steps feel like second nature.
  • The Fitness Edge: As one of the only LaBlast Certified instructors in Washington, Alan brings a unique fitness-forward approach to the Society. He’s an expert at using ballroom dance to help students get stronger, move better, and leave the floor feeling energized.

The Goal: “I want dance to be the absolute highlight of your week. We’re going to work hard, but we’re going to have a lot of fun doing it.”

Why the "Society"

We didn’t want to be tied down to a traditional studio; we wanted to build a community that’s as dynamic as we are. By staying flexible and independent, we aren’t limited by four walls. Instead, we bring elite-level instruction directly to the dance floors and venues that best serve our members.

Being independent allows us to stay active on the professional circuit while staying dedicated to our students’ goals. Whether you are preparing for your wedding, looking for a fun way to stay fit, or want to join us on the national competition stage, you are part of the family here.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved as professionals, but we’re even prouder of the community of dancers we get to work with every day. The “Society” isn’t a building—it’s a culture of excellence that we carry with us, wherever the music takes us. We can’t wait to meet you on the floor.
